For a population of almost 11,000, Bolivar had 2 great courses, Silo Ridge a private course, and Bolivar Golf Course the public course in the heart of the town. Bolivar Golf Course is a typical rural 9-hole course built in the 60’s on a rectangular plot of land, so there was a basic plan to follow. They take good care of the course. One of the best indicators of how well a course is maintained is by looking at the sand, if they even have traps. Bolivar Golf Course does, in fact, have traps and they are fairly well groomed. The greens are round and small, with virtually no slope so the breaks are subtle. There are a couple of different water hazards, a creek running through the middle of the course and a pond. Overall, Bolivar Golf Course is a nice option for residents that want to play golf but do not want to join a public country club.
